Riding into their third year of membership with Bike Share is this dedicated Annual 45 rider, who has travelled from downtown Toronto all the way to Mississauga on two wheels! They’re here to remind you, “It’s just as much about the journey as it is the final destination” with Bike Share Toronto!

Hello Alekhya,

What station do you consider to be your “home station”? Are there other stations that are key to your use patterns and helping you get around the city?

There are lots of stations in and around where I live between Yonge/Bay and Lake Shore. I would consider any of them my home station.

What would you consider to be the “local gems” or spots you love to frequent in your community using Bike Share

There are just so many local gems in Toronto that I am lucky to explore – thanks to Bike Share Toronto. Some of our recent faves are Za Pizzeria on Bay & Richmond; Eat Yet and Gus Tacos at Kensington Market and Limon near the upper beaches.

What do you love the most about using Bike Share and what value do you find in using the system?

Stations are available far and wide, so we are able to explore the full length and breath of our culturally diverse city! Availability of bikes in plenty and lots of stations to safely dock our bikes is really convenient. Affordability is one more reason I love Bike Share. I’ve seen other cities and they are not as economical as Bike Share Toronto.

What made you start riding with Bike Share?

We are fairly new immigrants to Canada and we lived in the Netherlands before coming here. We wanted to keep our biking tradition alive and well because we see so many health, environmental and money saving benefits to biking. We don’t own a car and plan to keep it that way as long as Bike Share Toronto is there for us!
