April Member of The Month

It’s time to share another annual member on their second year of membership. This Annual 45 member is a elementary school teacher and multi modal commuter who loves to use Bike Share as part of their leg to get to school. Let’s learn more..

Say hi to Darren,

What station do you consider to be your “home station”? Are there other stations that are key to your use patterns and helping you get around the city?

My home station is at Bathurst & Adelaide, right between the Adelaide & Richmond bike lanes that take me to & from the downtown core.

What would you consider to be the “local gems” or spots you love to frequent in your community using Bike Share

Bike Share starts and ends my daily commute to school (I’m an elementary school teacher), 5 days a week all year round. I walk to Bike Share from my condo and zip across to the TTC Yonge subway line where I take the subway to my work in North York.

However, on my days off I’m regularly back & forth between my home on King West and Kensington Market! I also love Toronto’s theatre scene and Bike Share is how I get to and from the ballets and operas at The Four Seasons Centre or the many playhouses around Toronto.

What do you love the most about using Bike Share and what value do you find in using the system?

There is nothing like finishing a day of work, returning downtown on the subway, and then zipping along through a bike lane with Bike Share to get me home! The ride wakes me up & invigorates me so that I have energy when I get home. I don’t have a lot of time to work out at a gym, so incorporating Bike Share as part of my daily commute helps me to keep in shape.

What made you start riding with Bike Share?

Once I started seeing Bike Share stations all over the place, including three within walking distance of my condo, it just made too much sense to sell my bike and switch over. The annual price can’t be beat and the ease of just popping the bike into the station and walking away is gold! No more lugging bike locks around or worrying that my bike will be gone when I get back!

Darren, thanks for representing #BikeShareTO in the bike lane! We can’t wait to be your ride this spring and summer.
