Welcome back, Bike Share Community! Here we are with another edition of our Member of the Month series, where we recognize and share your experiences as dedicated Bike Share riders. Say hello to Danielle, a Vancouver native who fell in love with Bike Share on her last visit to Toronto.
What station do you consider to be your “home station”? Are there other stations that are key in helping you get around the city?
On my last visit, it was College Park — Gerrard Entrance, right by my hotel. In all the times I’ve visited Toronto, I’ve always managed to find a Bike Share station close to wherever I happen to be staying!
What would you consider to be the “local gems” or spots you love to frequent in your community using Bike Share?
The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail! It’s mostly protected lanes, not hilly at all, and offers such amazing views of the cityscape and the water! Also, for a relaxing ride, I love cruising through the University of Toronto campus and on to Casa Loma. The streets are traffic-calmed, and there’s even a convenient Bike Share station located right beside the castle.
What do you love the most about using Bike Share and what value do you find in using the system?
I love that the bike unlocking process (with the QR code) is so simple! I find that Bike Share offers me a really efficient way to get around town, as I don’t have to think about finding parking or worry about getting stuck in traffic.
What made you start riding with Bike Share?
I’m an avid user of the bike share program back home in Vancouver. Whenever I travel, I enjoy using the local bike share to get around and explore! Having experienced bike sharing in Chicago, Seattle, and various cities in Taiwan, I have to say that Bike Share Toronto is definitely one of my favourites because of its expansive network and overall ease of use.
Danielle, we are thrilled you love using our system and appreciate you making Bike Share a part of your adventures while visiting. For your chance to be featured as our Member of the Month, tag us on social media using #BikeShareTO and you could receive a DM from us.
Next time you explore Toronto, do it from a seat of a bike, grab a pass, and get riding!
