Expanding to New Neighbourhoods

Adding 105 new stations to our footprint, Bike Share Toronto now spans a whopping 100 square kilometres of the city! Deploying stations in new areas – stretching out of the downtown core – we welcomed new neighbourhoods to our service area. System Growth

After our 2019 expansion, we now have a total of 5,000 bikes and 465 stations! Adding 1,250 bicycles to the system, this year we grew our fleet by 33%. This means more bikes for YOU! We are thrilled to continue expanding our flourishing system to make biking more accessible citywide.

Free Ride Wednesdays Brought to you by CAA

We partnered with CAA South Central Ontario this summer to bring Toronto Free Ride Wednesdays! Bike Share Toronto riders were invited to ride for free every Wednesday for the month of August. Achieving a record ridership day of 21,220 trips, we saw thousands of locals and visitors join us for a cycle. Whether commuting to work, running errands or exploring Toronto, our Free Ride Days gave our city the opportunity to do so from a bike seat.

Unicorn Bikes joined the Fleet

We introduced more unicorn bikes into the fleet in 2019! Are you wondering “what in the world is a unicorn bike?” A unicorn bike is a uniquely decorated bikeshare bicycle that stands out from the rest of the fleet. This year, riders had the opportunity to take a trip on our nostalgic toboggan bike, adorable snowman bike, colourful skating bike, spooky skeleton bike and our BOO! bike. Users had a blast biking around the city on our flashy rides for their chance to win incredible prizes. Keep an eye out for more unicorns during 2020!

What our Riders are Saying

“Having a Bike Share Toronto membership gives me the power of choice.  Using a bike to get around Toronto is almost always the fastest option, but sometimes plans change or the weather conditions are just too bad for me to ride in.  Bikeshare means I never have to worry about choosing between biking when I don’t feel safe or leaving my own bike somewhere I don’t want to.” – David

“I have used Bike Share for the last few years and I love it. It is such an easy, convenient way to get around downtown Toronto. There are docks everywhere across the city which makes accessing the system super easy. I recommend Bike Share to anybody who asks about it as it is a reliable, affordable and convenient option for getting me where I need to go year round.” – Sam

Being a member allows me to get my code and go. I love how easy getting a bike is. Bike Share Toronto allows me to get to work within 20 minutes. It adds exercise during my commute and less screen time. Planning my route and finding a drop off rack, allows me to explore my city everyday!” – Emma

“I love that Bike Share offers me mobility on demand. Also, since I’m fairly new to cycling in Toronto, I like the freedom of being able to cycle for a short distance and not have to commit to doing my entire trip on a bicycle, or try wrangling my bike on the subway. Just dock it and go. Becoming a Bike Share member has changed me from someone who cycled maybe once or twice a year to someone who cycles almost every day. I’ve never felt so free!” – Lauren

“With two young kids at home, it’s hard to find the time to exercise. Bike Share not only helps me ensure that I integrate exercise into my everyday activities, but it is also a reliable way to navigate the city and get to work on time! I use Bike Share mostly in the winter and spring, when it’s cold and snowy outside. I put my bike away so that it doesn’t get rusted. I often pick one up at the rail path and drop it off at the end of the path. I’m free of cars, I get some fresh air, and I don’t have to worry about the weather conditions ruining my own bike.  It’s a pretty sweet part of my day.” – Rayne
