An incredible 2021 for Bike Share Toronto

Finding happiness on a bike, while riding through a pandemic

It’s a new year, which means a fresh start and new opportunities to discover more with Bike Share Toronto! If you haven’t sketched out your goals just yet, we have a few good ones up our sleeves. May we suggest…

Make a conscious decision to replace a short transit trip with a quick bike trip. Start off with committing to once a week and grow from there.

Call a friend and plan a (safe) date. Pick a destination – a delicious cafe, local shop, or just explore a neighbourhood – and enjoy the ride!

Once we’re back in the office, save money on gym memberships by biking from the office. One-way, or two…it’s all up to you!

Whatever your cycling goals are for 2022, we are ready to help! We’re only just getting started…

But before we start planning all the amazing things we want to do this year, let’s take a moment to reflect on the fantastic year we just had (a much-needed positive during a pandemic)! While we had many ups and downs in 2021, we want to celebrate the wins we had with our community of riders. So, join us as we look back at what made 2021 an excellent year for Bike Share Toronto.

We Broke Records, Again.

So we think that it’s time to make this relationship official because we love all our riders, and we think you love us too because we logged OVER 3.575 MILLION TRIPS! We broke last year’s record of 2.9 million, which we believe is a pretty awesome way to celebrate 10 years of bike share in Toronto.  You all made sure that we entered summer on the right foot because our busiest day of 2021 was on June 5 with over  27,000 rides in a single day! Now we like a challenge….can we set new records for 2022? We certainly hope so!

The Annual 45 is the New Annual 30!

You asked for longer ride time, and we heard you! In July of 2021, we launched a brand new membership option to give Torontonians more choice and more flexibility with the Annual 45. We wanted to allow our riders to go a little further with their bike share ride by providing 45-minute station-to-station trips. We believe in giving you the freedom of choice to commute your way, with two membership options. Find out which membership is suitable for you, and get riding in 2022!

Sweet, Sweet Summer Riding!

We saw you Bike Share Toronto riders; you were out from sunrise to sunset this summer. We don’t blame you cause we were doing the same thing! With Free Ride Wednesdays in July in partnership with CAA and #ActiveTO, we saw our bike share community come out in the masses! To help keep Toronto riding last summer, we had our Valet Stations out every weekend to take advantage of empty city roads and popular trails. Last year, the most popular place to be was along the Lake Shore, specifically, our most popular station was York St & Queens Quay W, with Ontario Place Blvd & Lake Shore Blvd W (East) being a close second. Our team was happy to help make the ride that much smoother.

One More for the (Corporate) Crowd!

Did you think that we were going to stop at just one new membership option in 2021? Well, hold on to your helmets, folks, because in Fall 2021, we launched the new Corporate Membership Program! We know that so many of you commute into the downtown core (so much that we had to launch Superstations!), so we wanted to help you out. Companies can sign-up to save their employees 20% off the Annual 30 or Annual 45 membership, with zero cost to your company. Just another employee perk or way to spend your wellness allowance. We’ve already onboarded dozens of great companies and schools like York University, Humber College, CIBC SQUARE, and Desjardins, to name a few.  So come join the pack and sign-up to get your company riding for less!

The team at Bike Share Toronto is so proud of all of its employees that worked so hard through a second year in this pandemic. All to help keep Toronto riding. We look forward to all the new and exciting things in store for 2022!

See you in the bike lane!
