One thing we are certain of is that the last year has been tough on us all but one consistent way to describe the rollercoaster is with the word change. So much has changed. Our priorities have changed from commuting to work and school to being stuck in make-shift home offices still wearing week-old sweatpants. Our ridership patterns have changed, driving people to use bike share to run errands, head to appointments or just simply to get outside and move our bodies. Now more than ever, we are looking for ways to be active, and from this, we have seen a surge of people wanting to ride a bike. The kicker? You may be hard-pressed to find a bike to buy (that isn’t around $5,000!). For us at Bike Share Toronto, that means that we have seen our community of bike share users grow immensely from the growing demand for biking. We welcome you all with open arms!
We are so proud that now, we can get even more people riding with us by partnering with the City of Toronto’s initiative, ActiveTO! If you’re not familiar with it, it is simple. It means closing down parts of major city roads on weekends so that people can safely and comfortably enjoy being outside and be active throughout the summer.
The most popular routes for Active TO are also conveniently lined with Bike Share Toronto bikes and stations:
The team at Bike Share Toronto recognizes that not everyone has a bike, or if they do, they don’t want to have to shlep it across town on TTC or look for parking. To make sure that everyone can easily get riding, Bike Share Toronto put multiple Valet Stations on ActiveTO routes. We know – another new term.
Every week, these stations are updated on our social media, website and the City of Toronto’s website to make sure that you can plan your ActiveTO route with Bike Share Toronto with ease and comfort. Using a Bike Share, Toronto station on an ActiveTO route means you can ride from point A to point B, enjoy your surroundings by shopping and stopping at local surrounding areas, and then pick up another bike from a nearby station.
Before you head out, be sure to download the PBSC app so you have up-to-date information about stations around you and on the ActiveTO route and unlock with our QR code reader.
What are you waiting for? Join Bike Share Toronto by jumping on an Active TO route, currently every weekend until the end of summer! Don’t forget to tag us wherever your bike may take you! #BikeShareTO
