April Popular Routes – Riding The Beaches

Experience Luminosity On Bike Share

Bike Share Toronto community, it has finally happened! We have reached that time of year where we have double-digit weather, there is no freezing, blustering wind to hurt our hands and faces, and the sun is still up after 5 PM. Like many of you, we have used the winter to catch up on all our true crime documentaries and Netflix specials. But now that it is warm outside, get active and go explore the outdoors (at a safe social distance, of course). For this edition of Popular Routes, we suggest you jump on a Bike Share Toronto bike and head to the east end of the city to catch Luminosity from now until April 11.

Spread across 3km, starting at our Queen St E & Eastern Ave station and ending near our Queen St E & Nursewood Rd station, you can curate a tour of 8 outdoor, illuminated art exhibitions, while also exploring all that this neighbourhood has to offer! Don’t worry if you get lost; the neon glowing hearts in shop windows will guide you on your way.

The first four exhibits fall between our Queen St E & Eastern Ave to Queen St E & Lee Ave stations. Stop by Breakwall BBQ & Smokehouse for dinner while you wait for the sun to entirely set and pretend it’s summer with smokey BBQ ribs and chicken wings fresh from Ontario farms. Are you looking instead to channel your inner Parisian? Peruse over to Yum Croissant, where you can revel in sweet sandwiches such as strawberries and creamy custard or a classic combo of Nutella and bananas. Some essentials to fuel you on your bike ride.

The last four exhibits fall between our Queen St E & Balsam Ave and Queen St E & Nursewood stations. Each installation is on until midnight, so don’t worry about rushing from one to the next. Once you’ve finished checking out all the art installations, pick up your Bike Share Toronto bike at our Queen St E & Spruce Hill Rd station and head over to Bagels on Fire, one of the best places in Toronto for those classic Montréal-style bagels. They are perfect for the morning after your epic bike ride through Luminosity and trying to find which pictures to post on Instagram. Don’t forget to tag us in your rides #BikeShareTO – we love sharing pics of our riders.
